Oxford Brookes University

150th Anniversary Timeline

An engaging and intelligent platform to tell the Oxford Brookes story, the timeline reveals a much deeper level of understanding of the University to prospective students, alumni and the wider community.

The Client

Oxford Brookes University has a national and international reputation for excellence in learning, teaching and research with consistently high ratings in University Guides. Oxford Brookes is also one of the top UK universities for graduate employability.

The Brief

To celebrate the university's 150th anniversary through a comprehensive, interactive section of the current website dedicated to Brookes’ story.

To engage their audiences, bring them closer, increase financial support for Brookes, and point to opportunities to engage.

Our Solution

Brookes created a huge depth and range of content to tell the story of their 150 years. With approx 500 articles including films, and image galleries.

We needed a way to communicate all of that content in a simple way that also gave you an appreciation of it’s depth.

  1. Hundreds of articles, including films and image galleries.

  2. A simple tree-like node format inspired by Brookes’ branding.

  3. An alternative chronological feed-based layout to navigate and discover content that can be filtered by decade or tag.

  4. Ideas and subjects connected through a visual language that makes content easily understood.

Their Response

"Everywhere stood out against the competition for producing high quality, design-led, intuitive websites. We engaged them after a rigorous selection process, immediately finding them to be professional, creative and insightful to work with. They also demonstrated incredible patience and politeness in the face of unexpected obstacles and changes along the way.

Post-launch, anecdotal feedback and web stats tell us that Everywhere has enabled our audiences to easily get to the content in our long and complex history, which was exactly what we wanted."
